    MIGLIO GYPSY ROSE COLLECTION

Handcrafted in South Africa using precious and semi precious stones, Miglio jewellery has just launched their summer collection, Gypsy Rose. I love these turquoise pieces, especially the enhancer which you can add to any necklace…

    miglio

What I love most about this jewellery is it’s flexibility – bracelets can be worn as necklaces, extenders alter the length of a necklace and pendants and enhancers can be added to any necklace or bracelet to dramatically change it’s look. It allows you to express your personal style in how you put together different elements to create a unique piece of jewellery.

A percentage of the profits goes directly to the Homestead, a charity in South Africa who rehabilitates street children. Miglio also abides by the principles of fair trade, committed to ensuring sustainable futures for everyone who works in it’s factories.

Miglio is not sold in stores, it is sold by consultants through home presentations. If you host a presentation you will be able to choose a piece from the Miglio collection at half price. All you have to do is add friends and maybe a bottle of wine!

For more information on the Miglio Gypsy Rose Summer Collection or to book a presentation, contact Pauline on 087 686 9220.

I’ve already started picking out the pieces I want to add to my personal collection!

      TOLIX STEEL DESIGN

For those of you that don’t know myself and my boyfriend are at the very first stages of building a house in the Irish countryside. The build won’t be complete for at least another year and a half but that doesn’t stop me dreaming of interiors…

      tolix1

These chairs and stools were originally designed by Xavier Pauchard in 1934 for French company Tolix who still produce them. It is believed that they were originally designed for use in battleships. I think I’ll start saving now for three of the tall stools in the natural metal finish, love, love love!

They’ll go perfectly with my dream shaker style kitchen, sitting at the island, which will have a polished concrete work top. A girl can dream!

        PERIODIC TABLE OF TYPEFACES

I came across this recently and fell in love so I wanted to share

        periodictable
I have to admit that I am a total type nerd. I will definitely be framing one of these prints for my new home when it is built. You can read more about the process and how it was developed here.

            L HOGAN

Laura is another person I had the pleasure of meeting at Meet Your Maker. She dies and spins her own wool, the most beautiful wool and yarns I have ever seen in amazing vibrant colours…

            lhogan

She was knitting a jumper at the weekend when I met her, it really made me want to learn to knit again, my granny did teach me when I was a child and I made my very own teddy bear! Unfortunately I have long since forgotten everything I learned.

You can see more of Laura’s wools and yarns at her Etsy shop LHogan.etsy.com or follow her new blog laura-lhogan.blogspot.com

              JANEY CLOTHING

I met Jane at Meet Your Maker last weekend. She has a very cute and quirky fashion label called Janey which includes dresses, tops, shrugs and jackets. I love her shapes and styles, they’re very flattering…

                INSPIRING PHOTOGRAPHY

I received a lovely email from Joanne Murphy, a talented photographer, wishing me well. She has also featured my wedding stationery on her new blog. I’ve just been looking through her portfolio and came across these photographs which I fell in love with…

The colour combinations in the images are beautiful, very inspiring!

                  MEET YOUR MAKER UPDATE

Meet Your Maker at the Irish Design Shop kicked off last weekend. It didn’t get off to a great start due to the torrential rain and strong winds on Saturday morning which forced us to set up inside the studio. But the black clouds parted before lunch giving way to glorious weather for the remainder of the weekend. The stalls and cafe were quickly moved outside to take advantage of the sunshine.

Laura and Clare did a great job setting things up. Laura even baked delicious cookies, brownies and rice crispy buns for the pop up cafe. Needless to say I was eating them all weekend.

There was a great atmosphere amongst the stall holders and I met some very talented designers. I’ll feature some of them in upcoming blogs. The feedback about my letterpress cards was great, my new butterfly print seems to be a definite favourite.
