OUR ART NOUVEAU WEDDING INVITATIONS

Well they’ve been a while coming, the hardest customer to please is yourself, but myself and Alan finally sent out our wedding invitations. I designed the bespoke wedding stationery suite to set the tone for our Rome wedding this summer. Inspired by the romance and elegance of 1900’s to 19020’s style the Art Nouveau design features curved forms flowing from a stylised butterfly…

We chose to send our guests a flat invitation, a wedding booklet and and RSVP card. We wanted to use a muted subtle colour palette to create a romantic vintage feel and printed our stationery with a pewter ink and also blind embossed (printed with no ink). I selected an organic curvaceous striking font for our names which was contrasted with a sans serif minimal font.

I went searching for a stamp that would compliment our stationery suite, the An Post Wedding Stamp or 2010 just didn’t suit at all, so I looked through their website and came across their Stamp Issues section. As soon as I saw the Czeslaw Slania I knew it was perfect. The stamp depicts a scene from the ballet Romeo and Juliet, how fitting, and the colours of the etching were perfect!

We wanted to provide our guests with all the information they would need to book their flights, accommodation and to plan their trip to Rome. We included in the wedding booklet a map of Rome, information about our favourite sights, restaurants, cafes and bars. We wanted to share our love for Rome with our guests giving them a sense of why we chose Rome as our wedding destination.

It really is true once you’ve sent out your wedding invitations, everything does become very real, and very exciting!

We’ve had lots of great feedback from our guests complementing our wedding invitations, I can truly say that they have set the perfect first impression for our wedding.

  3. These are the most beautiful invitations I’ve ever seen! Truly! I love Art Nouveau! I concentrated in European Decorative Arts when I was studying Art History at Uni, and this was my favourite period. I hope you are making this theme a permanent part of your collection. It’s gorgeous! E la stampa e perfecta!

  6. Thanks so much for your lovely comments, we were delighted with how they turned out, it was so exciting posting them, butterflies in my tummy. It really was the start of the wedding excitement!

We’ve had such a great reaction to the design and so many enquiries that I’ve decided to offer Art Nouveau as the latest custom design stationery suite in our letterpress collection.

Lisa I just adore Art Nouveau, everything from the architecture and interiors to the beautiful posters. The love affair started when I studied it in college and then when I went to Paris I was blown away by the stunning Art Nouveau metro signs and street lamp designs and then when I went to Barcelona and saw Gaudi’s work that sealed it for me. Amazing!
