WHAT IS LETTERPRESS?

Letterpress is a historic printing method dating from the mid 1400’s. Today, after centuries of change and technological advances in printing methods, the process and craft of letterpress printing have remained virtually unchanged. Because printing is done on an antique printing press, each piece printed is subtly unique. Small variations in inking, color, impression and position are to be expected. These small variations are part of what makes letterpress so beautiful.

CAN I ORDER SAMPLES?

Yes, you can order samples from our Wedding Collection section. Invitation samples include an invitation and RSVP card with matching envelopes. Sample charges are credited against wedding stationery orders, please present your sample receipt when ordering.

WHEN SHOULD I ORDER MY STATIONERY?

Invitations are generally sent out six to eight weeks before your wedding day. If your wedding is abroad or on a bank holiday you will need to send out invitations earlier. Our standard turnaround is 4 weeks for wedding stationery suites, from the date of sign off of the artwork. In an ideal world, we would recommend that you place your order 4-6 months before your wedding date. We can accommodate rush orders on request but this is subject to availability and will incur an additional cost.

WHAT QUANTITIES SHOULD I ORDER?

We recommend ordering 10% - 15% extra invitations. Calligraphers often need 10% additional envelopes, and if you are hand-addressing your invitations, you will want some extra in case of any mistake. Also keep in mind that guest lists have a way of mysteriously expanding.

Ordering additional quantities now is much less expensive than having us reprint 25 more invitation sets closer to the wedding date. We have a minimum order quantity of 25.

If ordering order of service books we suggest one per couple. Also, you may receive gifts from neighbours or family friends who are not attending your wedding, so extra thank you cards are often a good idea.

DO I HAVE TO PAY A DEPOSIT?

We do require a non-refundable deposit of 50% which is due when you place your order. Once we have received your deposit pamnet we can begin designing your beautiful stationery. We accept cheques, bank drafts, bank transfers cash and credit card payments via Paypal.

CAN I CUSTOMISE MY STATIONERY?

Of course, there are many ways to customise your chosen wedding stationery design to compliment your wedding style. You may change the ink colours, fonts, envelope colours and personalise your wording at no extra cost.

We have a wide range of ink and envelope colours for you to choose form, including metallics. We can also tailor mix ink colours to match asupplied swatch at an extra cost of €30 per colour. Please note, all of our inks are hand-mixed and may vary slightly from invite to invite. We also highly recommend printing blind letterpress (no ink) as it is a subtle, beautiful way to show off a letterpress impression.

HOW DO I PROOF MY STATIONERY DEISGNS?

Once we have completed your design, we will email you a proof for every piece in your suite. Be aware that colors may look different on screen, depending on your monitor settings. Have one or several other people read over the text, looking for typos, misspellings, incorrect punctuation etc. Farrell & Chase is not responsible for such errors.

Unfortunately, if you find errors in your printed pieces, we can not offer a refund and we do have to charge for reprinting. We obviously don’t want this to happen, so we encourage you to proofread and proofread again! It is no problem to make as many changes as requested until you are 100% happy to sign off for print.

When you approve the proof, you are saying that you accept the design, text, paper and colour of the invitation. The proofs must be signed off by email prior to commencement of printing.

WILL YOU DELIVER MY STATIONERY?

It’s entirely up to you. Once your wedding stationery is complete we will contact you to arrange delivery or collection. If you would like to collect your stationery we will arrange an appointment at a time that is convenient to you.

Delivery charges are an extra cost of €25 within Ireland and are not included in the price of stationery. UK deliveries are priced on request. If you require delivery of your stationery you must inform us at the time of final payment and supply a valid delivery address where the stationery must be signed for.

The balance payment is due before delivery or collection. Orders will not be dispatched until full payment is received.
