I’m sure like many of you I was watching the Oscar highlights last night and of course I was more interested in the fashion than anything else. My favourite dresses of the night were… Sandra Bullock wearing Marchesa, my absolute favourite (controversial it seems) is Miley Cyrus wearing Jenny Packham, Nicole Richie looking very stylish in a Reem Arca gown, Meryl Streep in Chris March and Cameron Diaz looking stunning in Oscar de la Renta!

And of course I cannot mention the awards without congratulating Dubliner Richard Baneham who along with his colleagues won the Best Visual Affects Oscar for their work on ‘Avatar’, congratulations!
I came across Claire Pettibone’s website wile looking for some wedding gown inspiration…

Myself and Alan have set a date for our wedding, so I though I’d start looking for some inspiration. I am finding myself more and more drawn to vintage style dresses. Claire’s Cherry Blossom 2010 Gown Collection has such and elegant and romantic feel. Claire is based in Los Angeles and says “A wedding gown has to be the most beautiful dress in a woman’s life, make her look and feel amazing, and capture her essence,”. Her gowns have a vintage quality, but the references are combined in a way that is truly modern. “So many brides want an intimate and individual feeling for their wedding, and the dress really sets the tone,” says Pettibone, a statement I completely agree with!

A taste of the Jenny Packham 2010 collection. Love it…

There’s been so much talk about X Factor how could I not mention it, but I won’t be discussing the music… I will be weighing in on the Dannii V’s Cheryl style discussion.
I have to say first off that I think Dannii is winning hands down. She is dressing in classic elegant sophisticated style week after week. She knows her style, what suits her and I think looks better than ever.
Cheryl on the other hand, I think is going through a style crisis. I think she is trying to shock and wow everyone this year, going a step too far and as a result is looking tacky and try hard. We won’t even talk about that black dress!!!
My favourite style week overall was Big Band week. I love vintage style especially 1920’s - 1940’s style. Even the suits that the boys wore were just so stylish, I’m not talking about Louis and Simon! It was just such a glamorous era.
The one thing I did love that Cheryl wore was the Jenny Packham Acacia II headpiece. I love Jenny Packham, she’s my favourite bridal designer. I’d love to wear a headpiece like it for my own wedding. I just have to get the dress first!
I also love Dannii’s new bob, when she doesn’t crimp and quiff it. I think it’s stunning and so sharp on her just worn straight with her frindge. Very similar to my own hairstyle so maybe I’m a bit biast.
Looking forward to this weeks show!
