DESTINATION WEDDING STATIONERY - ANRI & ANTHONY

Last year I had the pleasure of designing and letterpress printing Anri and Anthony’s destination wedding stationery for their 10.10.10 wedding. They chose our Fly Away wedding suite which we customised for their French inspired wedding in South Africa. Anri and Anthony both met and live in London but chose to host their very chic wedding in South Africa where Anri grew up.

The French inspiration came from their love of France, “it’s intoxicating.. Anthony has a beautiful little maison on the river in Limoges where we spent six months in the summer. I got to love the French countryside and its people as much as the bustling city life in Paris and it was easy to draw inspiration from this.” Using this inspiration they wanted to add that certain ‘je ne sais quoi’ to the style of their wedding stationery and throughout their wedding…

I was delighted to design and print save the date cards, invitations, RSVP postcards, menus, seating tags, gift boxes and thank you cards all inspired by vintage luggage tags, guide books and travel stamps.

“We wanted to thank you very much for the exceptional stationery you have produced for our wedding. It has been an absolute delight dealing with you and we are so pleased with the exquisite set which you have designed. It perfectly reflects all that is elegant and you have made for a fantastic experience and a very happy bride and groom! Our sincerest thanks.”

I have to say when Anri sent me the images from their wedding they really took my breath away, she is a stunningly beautiful bride and their wedding is so gorgeous! You can see their full wedding and an interview with Anri featured on Fly Away Bride.

It really was a pleasure to work with Anri and Anthony on their wedding stationery. Thank you for sharing your photographs with us, I wish you only the best for your future together as husband and wife!

NICOLE RICHIE’S GRACE KELLY INSPIRED GOWN

What do you think of Nicole Richie’s Marchesa wedding gown, one of the three looks she wore on her wedding day? She has definitely channelled the style of Grace Kelly, the most elegant bride of all time in my opinion. Everything from the lace bodice and long sleeves to the high bun hairstyle and long veil.

Grace Kelly’s wedding dress was designed by Helen Rose, wardrobe designer at MGM.  The MGM wardrobe department made the wedding dress as a gift from MGM. The wedding gown was made from antique Valenciennes rose point lace, twenty-five yards of silk taffeta and ninety eight yards of tulle.  Her veil was covered with appliquéd lace lovebirds and thousands of seed pearls. Stunning!

So what do you think,  will you be channeling the style of a famous past bride or do you think that it will only create comparisons; who can compete with the original and best? I love the idea of being inspired by vintage style and even by famous brides, but I think that’s what it should be, inspiration, which then develops into your personal style. It can be very easy to copy every single detail to achieve ‘the look’ but it’s only by adding your own personal touches that you ‘own’ the look.

Nicole’s skirt although still full was crafted from more than 100 yards of hand-draped silk organza and tulle petals making it very different Grace Kelly’s and she also had both of their names embroidered into the sleeve of her dress. Do you think that these elements along with other small touches make the dress, her dress? Did she strike the right balance?

I do think Nicole looks beautiful but I have to say it’s not the style that I expected. I thought she would be more of a bohemian style bride, a look that I think she pulls off so well and really suits her.

ENGAGEMENT SHOOT

I’ve started thinking about our engagement shoot, myself and Alan are going to Rome in September, to celebrate my 30th birthday and to organise our wedding, I can’t wait! We have arranged to meet our photographer while we’re there to talk through all the arrangements for our wedding and to shoot our engagement photos around the amazing sites of Rome!

I’ve been looking at many beautiful engagement shoots for some inspiration, do we want a formal or informal shoot, something quirky and fun or romantic and classic? There are so many possibilities, but whatever we decide, hopefully we’ll have some fun and a giggle.

On my search for inspiration I came across Rina & Bram’s engagement shoot on Jennifer Skog’s website. The pictures are really stunning and caught my attention straight away. They are so romantic and really capture the mood of Rome, hopefully our pictures will be as nice…
